Default Finding a Physician

How do you go about finding a physician that is best suited to your needs? Do you usually just go by the recommendations of your GP, or are you using other ways to find specialists?

Many times I call the hospital and ask them about who is the best specialists in a certain field. They tend to give me this information.

We had a hard time.We planned on using the peditricians office my mom used for us as kids.A few weeks before I had my daughter the doctor retired! I wanted to have the peditrician and our family doctor for our daughter. We ended up just having our family doctor. The one we have is the one who sees the infants as well. So, we share the same doctor and have kept it this way because we are comfortable with him and he's a really good doctor.

I ask around, I look for info on the web and often talk with other doctors to see where I should look or who to talk too.At the time a big factor was our insurance and not many peditricians taking what we had for our daughter at the time.

I defintely go with a general doctor cause if they can't help you with your kid they can find you a specific doctor for your kid's needs.

there are a number of good online resources you can use to get reviews on the practice along with some background information about the specific doctors, try ratemds.com for starters
